Holy Family
Happy New Year and welcome back to school!
We have lots of exciting learning planned for this term, we are looking forward to getting started on our new topics!
English
In English we will continue to work on sentence formation and structure, as well as our spelling and handwriting. We will be reading non-fiction texts all about animals to help us to be able to extract information from texts.
Maths
In Maths, we will be concentrating on the four operations – addition, subtraction, multiplication and division – and how to use them in real life situations.
Geography
We will learning about Europe as a continent in our Geography this term. We will be learning how to use maps to find the seven continents of the world, what the capital cities of the countries of Europe are and what the landscape of the countries is like. We will compare and contrast two major European cities.
Science
In Science our topic is Food and Our Bodies. We will be learning about the different food groups and about a balanced diet. We will think about the things that we need to survive and the things that we want to have. We will be learning about our skeletons and how our muscles work as well as how to keep our bodies healthy.
DT
In DT we will continue the theme of healthy bodies and will be making and eating some of our own healthy snacks.
RE
Our RE branch is ‘Galilee to Jerusalem’, where we will be reading and understanding the Gospel of Luke. We will think about how people felt when they met Jesus and learn about the celebration of Candlemas.
Other classroom information
We like to spend as much time outside as we can, learning in the outside environment, even when the weather is not perfect. Please ensure that your child has wellies and a coat in school at all times, as well as other warm clothing. Hopefully by the end of the term the children will need to have hats and sun cream too!
We are looking forward to a great term with lots of fun and learning!
